The HKUST Alumni Association (A1) is organizing a Start-up Award to provide a platform for graduates who have started their own businesses to meet and learn from experienced judges and seasoned alumni entrepreneurs.

We have invited some of the most successful, self-made entrepreneurs in Hong Kong from the '80s and '00's, coming from many different industries, to be our judges and advisors for the Award.

Award Objectives
- To recognize the achievements of HKUST alumni entrepreneurs 
- To carry out A1's vision of "Alumni Inspire Alumni" by creating a platform for HKUST alumni entrepreneurs to network, raise questions, and seek advice for the challenges they face from experienced mentors and judges panels 
- To help HKUST alumni start-ups gain exposure in the community and connect with potential investors

Eligibility
Start-ups must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- Registered in Hong Kong
- Have been operating for at least 1 year but no more than 6 years
- At least one key founder of the company is an HKUST alumnus/alumna

* Sponsors, judges, their employees and their families are not eligible for the Award

Timeline
- December 2015: Applications open
- 18 January 2016: Kick-off ceremony and introduction networking
- 26 February 2016: Applications close
- 5 March 2016: Announcement of Shortlisted Start-Ups
- 19 March 2016: Business presentation to the judging panel and award presentation [event details]
